From 1992 to 1998, he attended Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore, under Bangalore University for his medical education.
Dr. Rohit Shetty completed his residency of ophthalmology at St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore from 2000 to 2003. During his residency, he received comprehensive training in cornea, cataract, glaucoma, strabismus, and vitreoretinal diseases and surgery.
After his residency, with a keen interest in neuro-ophthalmology, Dr. Rohit Shetty did a clinical observership in Neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Irvine, California in 2004.
He was a clinical observer in Refractive Surgery at the University of Mainz, Germany, subsequently. He completed the fellowship exam of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, UK, in 2006.
Dr. Rohit Shetty was awarded a PhD degree at Maastricht University, Netherlands for his work in Keratoconus, after he successfully defended this dissertation at the University on June 18th, 2015. He was the first Indian Ophthalmologist to achieve this outstanding academic accolade from the university.
